Carvers Creek State Park
My expectations for Carvers Creek were set pretty low. The park office was small, likely due to this being one of the newest parks in North Carolina. The hike began from the parking lot with a quarter mile hike back to the Rockefeller House (Long Valley Farm). The house had some neat history to it, but nothing spectacular.
The millpond, on the other hand, was a really neat experience. Despite the current dried up status, being able to walk around it and explore was very neat. There was hardly anyone else there and the experience was very calm. However, this would be different during the summer. It would just be buggy and hot.
So, I'd recommend this park for a peaceful walk on a day that isn't morbidly hot, or if you are into history. Whenever the millpond is no longer dry, I'll make another stop.
